Scarce Royal Air Force double-sided silk escape map.

One side covers France, Ref 7329 A / 9C (a), and is printed in three colors. The other side covers Germany, ref 7330 / 9U , and is printed in black and white.

This is one of the earliest escape map published by the British military intelligence unit (MI9) in 1941. It shows the border between French occupied and unoccupied zones.

This particular map was carried by an 8th Air Force bombardier.

Condition :

It is wrinkled and turned yellow. It had a small rip on the lower left corner. It is still a nice display item that was actually carried in flight.

For information, we do not recommend to press this map with an iron as it is made of silk. Iron pressing would leave a shiny residue and create brown stains.

Rare carte d'évasion en soie de la RAF imprimée en recto-verso.

Un coté représente la France, référence 7329 / 9C (a), et est imprimé en trois couleurs. L'autre coté représente l'Allemagne, référence 7330 / 9U, et est imprimé en noir et blanc.

Il s'agit de l'une de cartes d'évasion les plus précoces publiée par le groupe du renseignement Militaire Britannique (MI9) en 1941. Cette carte montre notamment la ligne de démarcation entre la zone occupée et la zone non-occupée de France.

Cette carte a été utilisée par un officier bombardier de la 8eme Air Force.

Condition :

Cette carte est plissée et jaunie. Il y a une petite déchirure sur le coin inférieur gauche. Il s'agit néanmoins d'une belle carte qui fut portée en vol.

Pour information, nous ne recommandons pas de repasser cette carte avec un fer à repasser dans la mesure ou elle est imprimée sur de la soie. Le fer à repasser peut laisser un résidu brillant et des taches marrons.
